HELLO, I´M TERESE AND I AM A MAVEN OF GRACE.

Thanks for stopping by to learn more about Maven of Grace. First and foremost, I am a follower of Jesus. I am also a wife, momma, grammie, disciplemaker, writer, editor, and dabble in podcasting.

My journey in editing began several years ago as the editor of NORCAL Christian Voice which was a subsidiary of what is now PBC Voice (Palm Beach Christian Voice). As NCCV’s editor I would network across social media inviting authors and writers to submit their work for review and possible publication. We published articles about Christian living, Christian news, devotionals, and upcoming events in local areas. I was also proactive in interviewing people  and writing the stories they shared about the amazing things God has done in their lives.

I had the opportunity to work with many writers who were able to utilize NCCV as a first landing spot to the stories that were on their heart. They were able to realize the dream of seeing their words come to life in print and publication on a platform that was read by many. It was a joy to be a part of this process and I celebrate with them the greater things they have done since.

I am a consummate researcher and love continuing education. I am enrolled in the writing program at Stanislaus State, where I received a certificate of completion for The Keys to Effective Editing. I am a member of West Coast Christian Writers, Cascade Christian Writers, The Christian Pen, and ACES the Society for Editing. My continuing education includes a three-part editing certification program known to set the industry standard for improving editing skills with The Poynter Institute in partnership with ACES and courses through The Christian Pen.

Editing is only a slice of my platform. I am certified in Women’s Ministry through NORCAL Baptist/General Conferences, School of Women’s Ministry and completed masters courses through Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary in partnership with School of Women’s Ministry. I host a Women’s Bible study via zoom and offer a Woman to Woman mentoring program.

Some fun things I enjoy are stationary, journals, colored pens, pencils, and crayons. I love to color outside the lines and I also love the beauty and guidance lines create. I love bold, deep colors like maroon, harvest yellow and orange, barn door red, and forest green. The boldness of color reminds me that sometimes outside the lines is where we meet the fear we want to overcome and inside the lines is the sanctuary of safety we crave. Wherever you are in your writing journey I would be honored to walk with you and be one of your greatest cheerleaders!

FUN FACTS ABOUT ME

WHEN I GREW UP...

From my earliest childhood memories I have always wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. This wasn’t an automatic event in my life. I spent many years working full-time and pining for the day this would become a reality. It is completely by the grace of God when this longing became an actuality. All praise and glory belong to Him!

MY FAV MUSIC...

Hands down the music of the 80s is my favorite! Especially because this time in life holds so many wonderful memories. There is a connection between music and memories that moves me emotionally. Speaking of moving, I mostly listen to Christian music these days and this genre of music moves me spiritually. I like to say the only cheerful noise I make while singing is in my head!

I´M MOST THANKFUL FOR...

I am most thankful for my relationship with Jesus. My husband, three children, and I became believers within months of each other! How gracious of God. He has blessed me with a wonderful husband, children, grandchildren, and extended family.

I LOVE TO EAT..

Food! I love all kinds of food and enjoy experiencing new cuisine. I have a love/hate relationship with carbs. The gooey, pull-apart, melt in your mouth of soft baked bread, pastas of all kinds, especially when there is copious amounts of butter or olive oil, and cheese. Let’s not forget pizza! Alas, this is not sustainable for my body. I follow a Mediterranean eating plan and I still get to use healthy oils and eat cheese!

MY IDEAL VACATION...

Anywhere my husband is! We both love history and enjoy trips around the country and abroad, always looking for museums, historical exhibits and tours.

TO REFILL MYSELF I...

I find that spending time in prayer, reading and engaging with God’s word, and a weekly Sabbath help me to refill and recharge. Taking time for exercise, reading a good book, and spending time with family and friends fills my love tank.
