The Beach House by Rachel Hanna

She was so looking forward to the next chapter in her life. She and her husband were retiring, they sold their house where they raised their two girls, and her dream of moving to the perfect beach house was about to be realized.

Until it wasn’t. Julie learns, unceremoniously, that the frequent business trips her husband had been taking were for more than business. Now she is facing divorce and her country club friends, well, let’s just say, Eliphaz, Bildad, Zophar, and Elihu, from the book of Job, have nothing on these ladies!

Facing an uncertain future, Julie takes the proceeds from the sale of her house and uses it to buy a piece of property, sight unseen, in a small beach community she knows nothing about. Sight unseen, I’m sure you can imagine what this house looked like, but she was near the beach and the beginning of her new life.

Enter in her meddlesome mom, who decides to drop off Julie’s estranged sister to stay with her. There was much tension between the sisters, accusations, and misunderstandings, but along the way they became reacquainted with one another and healing between them and within in them is evident.

The story moves along quickly. Julie finds new community, an issue with her ex-husband, and perhaps a new love interest in a man who runs the only Inn in town, but doesn’t truly operate as an Inn anymore. This in and of itself is a sweet addition to the story line.

This was a fun and quick read. It is clean except for the choice feelings Julie has toward her nemesis, but nothing explicit.

The Beach House is included in one of my top reads for 2025. Get yourself a copy today and enjoy!
